Our Lady in Paris - Julie Macklowe A Couture Diary
byDay 1: Tuesday
Paris Fashion Week got off to a flying start; after I landed, I only had ten minutes to get ready before my driver whisked me off to the Chanel Couture show at the Grand Palais. I adored the pregnant bride who stole the show at the finale.
The clothing was sublime--I can't wait to see everything up close in the Chanel Salon later. I squeezed in a little rejuvenation with a relaxing massage before heading to the Armani Prive Couture show. Kate Hudson, Sophia Loren, Pink, and Jared Leto were all there! I ended the day with cocktails and dinner at Monsieur Bleu on the Seine.
Day 2: Wednesday
The first show of my day 2 was my favorite "Enfant Terrible", Jean Paul Gaultier. One of the models was an elderly woman who fell a few times, but everyone clapped to support her and the show went on. The Catwalk spectacle was completely outrageous and very much a revival of the good old days of Gaultier, showing us his wicked wit. I went to lunch on the Avenue, and then on to Valentino's show. Everyone there was gawking at Kim Kardashian in a rather deep v gown, who was sandwiched between Valentino and Giancarlo Giammetti. My stilettos made their way across the cobblestones to see the Schiaparelli Couture Collection at their showroom, since I had missed the runway show. Lastly, I had a divine evening having cocktails at the beautiful home of Sally and Michel Perrin (of the leather-goods house, Perrin Paris).
Day 3: Thursday
Couture is all about the details and beautiful hand-crafting. I ventured out into the Parisian traffic to visit both the Valentino and Chanel salons. I couldn't be in Paris without trying on some of the couture and looking at the exquisite clothes up close. I brought my last day at Couture Fashion Week to a close with dinner at Kaviar Kaspa with my friend Prince Abdullah of Bahrain. Caviar and Couture: what a perfect way to end my fashion feast. Au-revoir for now!
