“I don't think that architecture is only about shelter, is only about a very simple enclosure. It should be able to excite you, to calm you, to make you think.” Zaha Hadid

ICONHOUSE is gushing over Zaha Hadid's neofuturistic designs. She's shaped the skyline with her stunning architectural eye. The Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, the Evelyn Grace Academy in Brixton, the London Aquatics Centre. Plans for 520 W. 28th St. off the Highline in NYC, the Iraqi Parliament building and the National Olympic Stadium for Tokyo 2020. These are just a few of the prestigious projects on impressive architect Zaha Hadid’s CV. And these only from the last few years. The Iraqi-British architect designs buildings that could compete with forces of nature.

As an over-achiever in her twenties she opened her own design firm in London and hasn’t stopped working since. For over a decade Hadid has been awarded with international recognition for the work she has done.

In 2004, Zaha became the first female recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. In 2008, she was listed on the Forbes list of "The World's 100 Most Powerful Women". In 2010, she was named by Time as an influential thinker in the 2010 TIME 100 issue. And of course, we love that she was listed as one of the fifty best-dressed over 50s by the Guardian in March 2013.

“I'm into fashion because it contains the mood of the day, of the moment - like music, literature, and art.”
